I'm running to stop the overrun by student housing we DO NOT NEED.
I have led teams for more than 20 years, using collaborative leadership to solve problems. Together, we set goals, we act, and we create the City we want.
As your Mayor:
As of September 2024, some members of City leadership are actively hiding and obfuscating about what should be open business. The amazing Fran McGuire often warned about NOT doing business in executive session. Let's heed that message.
Local government accountability should be simple:
· Training for residents to learn more about planning & codes, utilities, and other city work;
· Create project-specific expert panels;
· Develop public accountability sessions; and,
· Utilize executive session only as needed.
I've lived in college towns most of my life. What I love? INNOVATION. Let's do better creating what residents need. Residents remember a recent time when there were more options downtown and reasons to walk downtown for an afternoon.
We need new businesses in Clemson. Rent rates and an established community can be tough on entrepreneurs trying to break in to provide a good or service. Let’s create Clemson Innovates:
· Test new concepts or technology;
· Build innovation capacity through partnerships;
· Support local businesses; and,
· Directly benefit the City, County, and more by filling a need.
Implementing an innovation strategy is the course forward for how to achieve growth goals for Clemson. The top policy areas to prioritize in our innovation efforts include digital governance, transportation & traffic, and economic development.
We have just re-started the Sustainability Commission, a passion of mine because there are many residents and students very interested in making our community more engaged with solving our biggest problems.

Councilman Bob Brookover,
who vote to proceed with the controversial development plan, seems to imply Clemson's older community has little value...
